First Power at Hywind Tampen

Equinor has announced first power from the Hywind Tampen wind farm, offshore Norway. The Norwegian operator said the first turbine started up at 12:55 CET on 13th November, with power being delivered to the Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea.

Equinor intends to bring a further six turbines on stream by year-end, with the final four turbines to be installed during a weather window in 2023. At full capacity, Hywind Tampen will meet c.35% of electricity demand from the Gullfaks and Snorre fields, saving 200,000 tonnes for carbon emissions per year.
